Hair

About a year ago my fiancé went natural. She let her perm grow out and cut her down to a very mini afro. I was shocked when she did it. She looked funny for a month or so but then I got used to it. Once it grew out she had a nice puffy afro. It was cute on her. Then she went and got it twisted. It took a while for her twists to grow on me. I liked the afro better. Her twists have now turned to locks. It is good not to have to worry about burning yourself on a curling iron when you reach for something on the sink counter. It is good not having to shell out the money every other week to the hair stylist. It is good not to have to wait fifteen extra minutes before leaving to go somewhere while she does something to her hair. My daughter is now the only person in the family with time consuming hair. It is going to stay that way for now. I spent too much money on PCJ products and spent too much time learning how to comb it to get rid of it just yet. Black hair is at a nice state right now. Everybody is rocking a little of everything. Brothers are sporting afros, cornrows, locks, low fades, bald, heck I seen a brother rocking a low shag with a kit in it the other day. Sisters are sporting, afros, cornrows, locks, twists, low fades, micros, weave, perms in all shapes and sizes, wigs (the over 60 crowd), heck I seen a lady at church Sunday with the pretties crinkles I have seen in years. Black folks do your thing rock whatever you do as long as it is done. I hate to see a brother with raggedy cornrows with dandruff. I hate to see a sister with an inch of new growth in her braids. I hate to see a brother with a small patch of hair in the back that he missed when he was shaving his head. I hate to see a sister with a bunch of old gel around the edges of her head. You are not fooling anyone we know you are trying to hide the new growth until you can get another perm. I keep my hair low with a couple of waves. I know it is time to give up since my cow lick is steady edging backwards. I am a soldier I will rock the waves as long as I have hair on my head.

i've been without a perm for about 4 years and 3 months now, for about the 3rd time in my life (im only 22 years old)....it seems as if everytime i end up getting a relaxer, my hair will break off and fall out...when i went away to my first year of college, it fell out again! and i had just got a perm that May for my prom before i graduated from h.s back in 2000....so i will NEVER again get a relaxer...i figure if i want my hair straight, i could use a hot comb, and alot of guys like my hair, i guess because now it's popular, but before they didnt really want to talk to me, they only wanted to talk to the females with the straight hair....tell ya wifey to continue to rock the natural....
