That title from two years ago is now truer than ever

This is crazy. How did I get here? Six weeks ago I was living the American Dream. How much more could a man ask for. I was married to my college sweetheart. Two wonderful kids a girl and a boy. The girl a straight A student that loves to read and play softball. She gets excited about chess tournaments and quiz bowl. My son a A and B student with a positive attitude that loves to help others. A star athlete at the age of seven. Tough as nails I remember the last game of the football season he got his fingernail caught on a helmet while making a tackle. It took half of his fingernail off and caused blood to pour out. He came out got wrapped up and went back in after a couple of plays. He did not shed a tear. Yep those are my kids. My career was exactly where I wanted it to be. I was in position learning ready to take that step up to big time responsibility and money in the next year or so. My wife had a nice career of her own. She was a respiratory therapist working toward becoming an RN. Now she is gone. I am a widow and my children are motherless.
