Thoughts
I have a million thoughts go through my head during the course of a day. I often wonder what those thoughts would look like in writing. The best writing exercise I ever done during school was done at the end of my eleventh grade year. My English teacher instructed us to bring a self addressed envelope to school. The day we brought the envelope to school she told us to take out a piece of paper and a pen. We were then given ten minutes and told to write down everything that was on our mind. The first five minutes we were told to write the things that were bothering us at that very moment. The second five minutes we were to write down the things that were important to us. She told us if our shoe was too tight that we should write it down. She also told us if we were worried about a family member to write that down also. At the end of our senior year she mailed everyone’s letter to them. In it there was a note from her that basically said that we should look over our letter and see the things that were still important in our life at that time. Those were the things that were we needed to concentrate on. The other things she said we should not worry about too much. I don’t sweat the small stuff anymore.
